How we use AI, and how to question it

AI helps us analyze. It does not decide. Here is exactly what it does, what it doesn't, and how to ask a human to take a second look.

Where AI fits

Most of the analysis is not AI

A Tellstone analysis combines several signals, and most of them are not AI. The assessment is scored by fixed rules, and the structural risk checklist applies research-backed criteria the same way every time. AI enters at one step. It reads the scored profiles, the work histories, and the team's stated goal, then writes the narrative: the team's likely strengths, the single risk most worth watching, and suggested ways to manage it.

That step runs on a tight leash. The model may only reason from the data in front of it, it has to attribute any outside benchmark by name, and it is instructed to describe what a pattern suggests rather than invent a number. We built it to inform a judgment, not to manufacture one.

What it does not do

AI does not make the decision

Tellstone produces a structured read and a set of recommendations. Whether to pair two founders, make a hire, or back a team is always your call. The analysis is one input among many, never a verdict about a person, and it is not used to automatically accept or reject anyone. You stay the decision-maker. We make sure you are not deciding blind.

Your right to a human review

How to question or contest a result

If you, or someone you assessed, wants to question an analysis, you can. Specifically, you can:

  • ask us to explain how a result was produced and what data informed it,
  • correct information that is wrong and have the analysis re-run,
  • request a human review of any output you believe is off.

To start any of these, email Support@tellstone.ai and a person will respond. We log these requests and how they were resolved.

An honest note

Where the rules are still moving

The rules for using AI in hiring and people decisions are evolving, including in Colorado, California, and New York City. We are building our formal compliance process alongside that, with counsel. This page is the plain-language version: what we do, what we don't, and how to reach a human. If a specific jurisdiction's disclosure or audit requirement applies to how you use Tellstone, contact us and we will provide what is required.
