Participant Terms of Service
Last Updated: February 19, 2026These Terms of Service apply to you as an individual participant ("Participant," "you," "your") in the Tellstone assessment process (the "Service"), typically at the request of a venture capital firm, accelerator, venture studio, employer, or other investing or sponsoring entity ("Sponsoring Entity").
1. Agreement to terms
By creating an account, taking an assessment, or otherwise using the Service, you affirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. This constitutes a binding legal agreement between you and Tellstone ("we," "us," "our"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The service and your participation
The Service is a data analysis platform designed to generate insights into team dynamics, workflows, and potential execution risks. You understand that you have been invited to participate in this process by a Sponsoring Entity as part of their due diligence, portfolio support, or a similar evaluation process. The output of the Service is a report, series of reports, or proprietary insights ("Report") provided to the Sponsoring Entity.
3. Data, privacy and consent
Your privacy and the handling of your data are critical. By using the Service, you grant the following consents:
- Confidentiality of Your Responses: We treat your individual responses to our assessments as confidential information.
- Consent to Share Synthesized Report: You explicitly authorize and consent for Tellstone to share the final, synthesized Report—which is derived from your data and that of your team members—with the Sponsoring Entity that initiated your participation.
- Consent to Share Team Insights with Co-Founders: You understand and agree that your data will be aggregated with that of your team members to generate "Team Averages" or "Team Archetypes." You consent to these aggregated insights being visible to other members of your founding team who have registered for the same project.
- Consent to Supplement with Professional Data: You authorize Tellstone to use publicly available professional information (such as your LinkedIn profile) to verify your background and improve the accuracy of the insights generated in the Report.
- Consent to Share Detailed Data: You further understand and agree that, under certain conditions such as the fulfillment of a service guarantee or as part of a specific service package, Tellstone may also share the complete, detailed outputs of your assessment with the Sponsoring Entity. This may include, but is not limited to, your individual scores, full psychometric profiles, and unabridged notes from related diligence conversations.
- Consent to Use De-identified Data for Model Improvement: You grant Tellstone a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use your assessment data in a de-identified and/or aggregated form to improve the efficacy of our platform, train our underlying algorithms, and for statistical research. We will remove direct personal identifiers (such as your name and email address) before using data for these purposes. Once processed, this data is used to improve team dynamic predictions and platform accuracy.
4. Disclaimers and acknowledgment of risk
You acknowledge and agree that your participation in the Service is subject to the following understandings:
- For Informational Purposes Only: The Report is an informational tool and does not constitute financial, legal, career, or psychological advice.
- No Guarantee of Funding or Success: Tellstone makes no representation or warranty that participation in the Service will result in a positive evaluation, an investment from the Sponsoring Entity, or any other specific outcome.
- Report is a Single, Subjective Data Point: The Report reflects our proprietary analysis and represents one perspective among many. The Sponsoring Entity is solely responsible for how it interprets and weighs the Report in its independent decision-making process.
- Acknowledgment of Sensitive Insights: You understand that the Report may contain analyses that identify potential risks, interpersonal challenges, or areas for improvement that could be perceived negatively by you or the Sponsoring Entity. You voluntarily agree to participate in this process with full awareness of this possibility.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that Tellstone (including its founder, officers, employees, and affiliates) shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or punitive, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This limitation of liability applies to, but is not limited to:
(a) any investment, non-investment, or other decision made by the Sponsoring Entity, in whole or in part, based on a Report;
(b) any perceived or actual harm to your reputation, career prospects, or relationship with your co-founders or the Sponsoring Entity;
(c) any inaccuracies or omissions in the Service or a Report.
The Service is provided "AS-IS" without any warranties of any kind.
6. Intellectual property
You own your raw personal data. We own the Service, including our assessments, methodologies, algorithms, the Report format, and all other related intellectual property. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service only as intended through these Terms.
7. General provisions
- Truthful Information: You agree to provide accurate and truthful information in your assessment responses.
- Modification of Terms: We may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes, and your continued use of the Service after such changes will constitute your acceptance of the new Terms.
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
